No longer a Slave, but an Heir

When we are part of the family, we'll start to have the qualities and characteristics that the family passes down. 

-Paul uses slavery and servant hood to describe the process we are goin through to become part of the family.  How can we, then, pick up the characteristics of this new family?

The Twelve

This week, we are still processing through what it means to be "slaves" to the divine, the one who loves, to Jesus. We will be taking a look at those closest to him, those who sat at the feet of their Rabbi and were left with a very specific impression of the new things God was doing. The question is, is our encounter with Jesus just as significant? "

Slaves to What

While we’ve been studying the idea of serving other people, Paul turns the idea of slavery inside, and asks who controls us - our actions, our thoughts, our desires? This week we’ll think about what it means to stay on the easy path that we’ve inherited or to turn aside to the more difficult, but ultimately better path that God has laid out for us.

Two Masters

This week we continue the “dolous” (slave) series. Matthew 6:24 pretty much sums it up. What is master in our life? Is it money? Is it ourself? Or is it the way of Jesus. They don’t look similar.

Identities

When Paul centers his identity in Christ, he then becomes "all things to all people" - this week, can we set aside our agenda for God's agenda, take on his identity and vision, and be a people rooted in what he wants for our friends, family and community?

Washing Feet

John 13:4,5

It’s hard for us to really get the significance of this event. Is is everything! It is the gospel and the re- ordering of the world all wrapped up into one action! This Sunday we will explore what’s gonna on as Jesus, the Rabbi, washes feet.

Bought With a Price

This week we're starting a new sermon series, looking at Paul's constant refrain of being a servant to everyone.  Instead of describing himself as a leader or as a visionary or as someone elevated, Paul constantly goes back to the idea of servanthood and slavery to describe his work.  We'll start looking at ways we can really understand servanthood, and how who we serve is an important part of the kind of people we are becoming!

10 years!!!

It's been 10 years!  These are things to celebrate, but also to dream out, and to imagine more and bigger and better than we ever could have, because God's vision is bigger than our own! 

Mission Statement

After 10 years as a community, Legend has worked out both a mission statement and a strategic plan!  We think it's God's purpose for this community to tear down ANY and ALL barriers that come between God and his people - and we need your help to see that mission through.

The next wall we’re looking at is one that only “priests” get in. We’re to talk about the purity lines - their origin, the good of them, and how we have taken it a step in the wrong direction
